am about to start commuting to London via the train. I have a 7 mile cross country (good roads) trip each way to the station. I need a station car as don't want to leave any of my others in station carpark till all hours. I like to enjoy my driving even on a short journey, hence no interest in buying a £500 nail or something reliable but just dull.

So do i buy:
1) a new Fiat 500 Twin Air Street (v compact, piece of mind as warranty etc, looks great, killer finance deal, no car tax and very low running costs, but quite fun to drive) OR
2) spend the equivalent amount (say £13.5K if take sticker price of Fiat) on a used compact but fun car like a Subari STi, Evo of some description, Mini Cooper S (far more performance but higher running costs and all headaches of servicing, MOTs, faults etc)

Views please!

Thanks

That's a lot of money to spend on something which will potentially do less than 4,000 miles a year!

I suggest...

Buy an older-shape Fiesta ST or Zetec-S, fun, chuckable cars which are cheap. If you must spend £13,500 then please spend the balance on buying me a car as a thankyou for being so helpful biggrin

Your 'station snotter' will cost more than my last 4 cars put together.

Erm, Lotus Elise? Would be a great fun car to drive in the summer.

I should add that the station "snotter" wil also see some use transporting kids/general buzzing around etc at the weekend and the budget is "upto 13.5K" but happy to spend a lot less. feeling guilty now!
