Looking at an Elise for the weekend . . . & being a mild-mannered 40-something I'm torn between a nice titanium or something a bit more daft and standout-lairy such as a lime or orange smile

Buy a silver one, and then get it wrapped. That way, if you cant live with it, you can have it removed.

Would be nice to change the colour yearly.

An Elise looks great in all shades to me - there's a lovely dark blue S1 in the classifieds that I've been obsessing about today.

But, being a weekend car, a bright colour is usually preferable. Yellow. smile

My only major concession to vanity when it comes to cars is that I would never drive anything that was grey, silver, black or white; whether as a weekend car or a daily.

I look out on our driveway now and see a black saloon car and a silver MPV.

The garage contains the yellow weekend car smile

Yeah - weekenders should be a daft colour IMO.

I bought a black one, but would have been perfectly happy with any of the other colours, including the lairy ones.

Yes definitely go for a standout colour.
That'll help stop it looking like a mid-life crisis purchase.

Id say yes definitely, but then my VX220 is moonland grey, which goes against that but still looks fantastic! In my eyes at least! biggrin

Get something funky. Looking out across carparks these days, filled with boring resale-proof dark blue / silver / white / black cars just makes me feel sad.

An Elise should definitely be a jolly colour!

Better than various variants of grey, but still a bit dull. This is a much better colour:

I saw that but no aircon, strange given its the lightest aircon unit. . . nearly ever!

Yes but it's still a heavy thing to dump in a relatively lightweight car (about 30kg, I think). Personally, I hunted down a car without air-con. Useful for demisting in the winter, but I have a dehumidified garage to keep mine dry and if it's hot in the summer I have the roof off.

There are plenty out there anyway, if you want one in a daft colour with a lead weight under the front clam air con, one will show up sooner or later.

I think I'd find it useful as it will be parked on the street! Cheapish retrofit?

There was a metallic purple one for sale the other day. By far the best colour IMHO.

This one in fact smile

I suspect not cheap to retro-fit (although I don't know) and if you're keeping it on the street, you're probably right to be looking for it.

yes Aubergine was my first choice of colour, but I couldn't find one in the spec I wanted. By far the nicest colour for an Elise, IMO.
