I have a Ford Ka and I want to modify it. I am looking for ideas on how to make my ford Ka look a bit different.
Any Ideas?

Lambo Doors ?

Sport KA bits are the only thing to improve it slightly.

Don't bother. It isn't, and never will be, an interesting car (without significant investment in time and money, anyway). Leave it stock and put the money you saved towards a more interesting next car.

Okay, I don't know much about the ka but it'll probably help other forumites if you say what sort of ka you have- old one? new one? basic one? fancy one?

Assuming it's on old shape.

Expensive way - put a 2.0 Zetec Engine in

Cheap way - buy a SportKA. Bear in mind that you'll still only have 90 raging horses at your disposal.

The standard KA handles very well for what it is. I wouldn't bother spending money on coilovers. Exhaust and air filter will make it sound better but not much else.

Could fit a Puma Engine in it I think, 1.7 VCT 125bhp.

SportKA parts, small drop and Ford Racing KA wheels. Could try making it an FRK rep but good luck, they were never actually made, just some parts.

Cheaper to just buy a puma tbh.

I like modifying cars, but you'd have to put so much effort into a 1.3 KA you might as well start with something better. Especially since it's not a massive increase in price (could have a 1.7 puma for under a grand).

SportKa may only have 90 horses but awesome handling and really tight, close ratio gearbox! Great fun to drive.. We owned one for about 8 months

Can't speak for a standard Ford Ka, probs leave it alone and save up for something different.

Wouldnt bother modding a 1.3 Ka, save the money for something better when you have an extra years NCB. 15" Puma fan alloys do look ace on a Ka.

Oh yeah, I love ours. It's brilliant around town and on b-roads.

My comment was more to inform the OP that he wouldn't suddenly be in hot hatch territory.

SportKa's are absolutely hilarious fun. Have fond memories of taking mine to south Wales and pushing it so hard that the brakes faded to a point of absolutely no braking power at all when doing silly speeds into a corner..

My OH had a standard KA at the time too, and I remember driving it and thinking the SportKa is just a bit of a step up..

I wouldn't bother, it is what is.

I would suggest an interesting paint scheme or vinyl wrap.

My sister in law had one of these on an 'R' plate about 7 years ago, so it was 9 years old then, what a complete and utter shed it was. I was constantly fixing it for her.
Bits falling off inside, sump went porous, bearings, electrical problems and that's all I can think of right now.
We always knew when she was coming as you could hear that horrible ancient OHV engine 'tick tick ticking' away! Can't believe you've got a 16 year old one still on the road! Must have been well looked after, better built or has had everything replaced all ready!!

In all seriousness as others have said save your pennies and chop it in for a newer Ka or Fiesta with the zetec engine in the future. Modding may may 'seem' a good idea now but honestly, you'll regret it in the future and won't see the money back!! smile

My friend has recently bought a Sport Ka for his other half. His main modification was to replace the rusty petrol cap/sills!

He then put these genuine Ford RS 7 alloys on it, which are worth twice as much as the car!

Great little car that I wouldn't mod personally

I'm not sure about them looking good on the Ka, always look a little odd to me - my freind's wife has them on hers. They do however make it grip the road like a Scotsman gripping a fifty pound note.

No power, but lots of fun!

Don't bother with engine mods, you could spend hundreds on the cvh and it will still be what it is - pants! Ditto with the aesthetics also I'm afraid.

One other thought does occur though... does anyone know if anti roll bars can be scavenged from some other car and be persuaded to fit? I imagine that might be interesting and cheap.
