A complete nightmare, or an epic engine coupled to a car that should give open top fun for a long time coming?

Want something faster than the MX-5, and keep looking at these and thinking for the money, they've got a fantastic S6 engine, slightly questionable but still fun handling and it's something a bit different. Hmm!

Six grand isnt actually all that cheap, I think they are available for four grand or so, asking price vs sale price are very different.

It's the cheapest one for sale that I can see on the usual suspects - ebay, PH and Autotrader.

Of course, the asking price and eventual sale price may well differ, but not by that much Shirley?

Still, I think it's a nice bit of kit even for 5-6 thousand! Sure you could get a million and one alternative choices, but I just like the look of them. That rear 3/4 view cloud9

For about that money, maybe consider the Boxster S? Some good examples about.

Screaming N/A engine, relatively low kerb weight, small footprint? It looks great too (though the faded yellow isn't the most flattering colour). Get it bought!

Great value and nice miles. A very, very talented car. Colour VERY questionable though, at some point you're going to want to sell it.

If you like the colour - go for it! I sold an Estoril Blue one for £6300. Brilliant cars!

Great buy! My bro had a coupe in this colour and we all miss it still.
Rare sight these days. Better than the blue colour in my opinion.

Are you tall? Only asking, because I nearly bought one a few years back. The driving position didn't suit me at all. You sit on the car rather than in it if you get my drift so if you're 6ft plus it's not great. On a plus point it's fitted with THAT engine smile

Always loved these, something a bit different to the ubiquitous Boxster. Mate had an Estoril Blue one that he loved to bits

Wuld be interesting to see what is quicker round a track, Z3M or Boxster S, another 70 bhp versus a better mid engined chassis, I think the Porsche would just take it.

All good points about the colour and competence compared to the Boxster. Boxster probably quicker around most circuits but somehow that wouldn't matter so much.

Sorely tempted!

My money would be on the Boxster, not because it's mid-engined but because its chassis isn't made of cheese. Stick a full cage in the Z3 to stiffen it up a bit and it would get closer.

Fom most reports it is a good car, but check under the carpet in the boot for rusty/ cracked spot welds as they are known to have a design? problem with the bracket from the diff to the floorpan?, have a look at zroadsters for more info on it.
As an aside the same problem affects some 2.8 versions.

Can't believe how cheap they are compared to the coupe/breadvan versions. Looks a good buy to me

I don't understand why there's so little love for these, even more so vs how much love there is for the Coupe or an M3.

Personally I think the M Roadster is way more desirable than an M3 convertible.

In fact I can't think of any logical reason not to like these. That said, £6k will also buy you a TVR or a Corvette if you want something feisty.

I'd take his hand off quite frankly.

Yes chassis flex, but who gives a st? It's got an M-engine and you're in a yellow convertible.

As for the Boxster, try getting a decent S for the same price that doesn't have an engine waiting to explode.

Two things stand out on the description.

- Will explain on the phone regarding damage. (May just be to limit advert space/cost).

- No rush to sell. (Might be sales patter, but could be someone who doesn't want to sell and us unrealistic expectations)

Or that's all bs, the car is mint and a deal can be done.

It's nice and the lairy colour suits it.
