Came back to flat to find it burgled and csr keys and 330d gone. Was 10 years old and high miles so expect the insurers will offer a ridiculously low unjust amount. I loved the car tho, had it for nearly 6 years and was serving me well and worth a lot to me.

Can't believe it!

On the plus side, my constant browsing of the classified will now actually have to lead to a purchase - but now I don't want to shell out on anything valuable as I'm skint and insurance is going to go up and I'll be paranoid it'll be stollen again.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

But car keys should be in a safe and your car should have a Blackjax or similar fitted (even if it's just a hidden immobilizer switch) if you want to keep it.

They should be wherever he pleases. Doesn't give someone the right to take it.

I'd much rather they took the keys than fully search the house and threaten family as to where the keys are.

Yup, much nicer to have the house ransacked and your other stuff taken instead...

But back to OP... Genuinely gutted, though you have a great attitude! Or you weren't attached to that car, not sure which! hehe every cloud and all that!

At the end of the day, cars are usually easily replaceable. It could've been worse!

Presumably they did that too as he said he was burgled.

I'm guessing they can take MORE stuff when they have a car to fit it in.

You shouldn't have to take precautions but in the real world if you want to keep hold of your stuff...

And evreybody should be driving around in a fully armored car with an ex sas bodyguard incase some nutter tries to kill you.

It sucks to have things stolen but taking extra security measurements for run of the mill stuff aint worth it.

WHAT ?

FFS, just shoot the bds when they're caught !

He SHOULD be able to leave it unlocked with the keys in the ignition.

Dare I say some good old sharia-cutting-hands is a fair reward if scum like this is caught? What do they have to fear now? What stops stupid and lazy people from taking the easy money that stealing is? On the other hand, if they can't take it they vandalise it. Happened to me with my bike. The thought..

Completely agree, Sharia law addresses repeat offending in useful way.
No need for cautions, when the gobste has only two hands to lose

I love the idea of asking the convicted, "so which hand did you use to steal the car?" And then summarily smashing it into very tiny bits of useless bone for removal.

I'll add that to my list of useful things the Middle East has given us.

As above, caught in the act stealing- Cut off the hands. Caught stealing and subsequently breaking free/running away- cut off the legs as well. These only apply to pleading guilty. Lying in court and then found guilty anyway- cut off the head. Burglary amongst other crimes would drop to zero overnight..

I think you underestimate the stupidity and stubbornness of our underclass.
No reason not to carry on with this brilliant idea though. Where do we vote for its implementation?

Who keeps their car keys in a safe? Maybe a spare set, but I don't know anyone who keeps all sets in one.

On topic, I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune, OP. Good luck with your claim and the next purchase!

It will be on it's way to Romania now no doubt, to be a future star in a Driiiiiiiiifting video. I can't see anyone stealing a diesel just to go for a joyride, not that it makes OP's loss any easier. As a silver lining, at least no one got hurt.
