Mods...Mods and even more mods...Turbo = Lag...Heat = poor performance..Mods = Loads of money!...I have now come to realise that in some cases you are just better off just replacing the lump with a good rebuilt or higher capacity alternative..After all the fuss surrounding the supercharger kit for mine i have decided not to go the aftermarket ECU route as it will be extortionately expensive..For one the kit was designed by power engineering to run on low boost on a standard engine with NO MODS and the only modification i will have is an unleaded head conversion, Big valves..Porting and lowered compression to avoid any detonation..I will only fit an intercooler if its really needed..Again the kit did not have one in the first place..I agree with all that has been advised around aftermarket ECU's but even though the technology is old its going on to an old car so there shouldnt be any problems..If however the engine pops then i will sell the kit and get my old engine rebuilt by john toovey to a race spec..The money i would of spent on trying to find parts that are like hen's teeth..(EFI)..and having expensive mods to the value of 2K fitted would be straight down the drain if the engine should die..That money could be spent on another engine that runs a healthy 200bhp N/A...Also im itching like a scabby dog to get the blower fitted...The replacement engine i had fitted had a complete rebuild with new pistons, Rings, Bearings and valves, It also had a higher pressure oil pump fitted as the original ones were quite low and this should be a bonus for the blower..It also had very low mileage since the build..Hopefully i can fit the charger and just sit back and enjoy the blow job!...
