You have to supply 12V power to the car. You should consult your owners manual for how to do this safely, correctly.

I have to reinforce this: Be sure you connect the 12V power leads to the right places and with the right polarity. I've watched this being done but I've never done it.

Do not have the ignition on.

Basically with a 12V power source -- jumper cables from another car -- you connect one lead to a pull out connector in the fuse box -- the cover has to come off -- and another to the door latch catch. This should provide enough energy to open the front trunk lid so you can now get at the battery.

Disconnect the leads as soon as you have the trunk lid open. Handle those with care. Touch a lead to the a painted surface and there could be an arc and paint damage.

If you can get in the car, and its anything like a 911 there is panel on the right hand side of the drivers footwell.

In here you can pull out a +ve terminal and then you just need to find a good earth. It you pop jump leads on here you can activite the bonnet opening. Then put our CTEK on it. It will charge a battery in 12 hours.

Whether you can open the bonnet by linking it up here and leaving it for a while I don't know, but I guess it ought to work.

Yup, my mate decided he knew best when after a few stellas he decided he could 'remember' how to open the bonnet like the Porsche Assist guy did the last time the battery went flat on his 911 Cab.

A lot of sparks, a lot of smoke by all accounts ...... and a nasty bill.

I have a Porsche 12v cig charger. Ill use that bit the battery is completely dead and didn't know if that would be enough.

I'm assuming at least 12 hours.

Not bothered about getting into bonne if I can charge as above.

Thanks for your help.

Keep us informed on how you get on with the charging with CTEK cig lighter just in case I do the same mistake one day!

I remember when I first got my CTEK 3.6 and used it for the first time and was shocked that after 10 hours charging the green fully charged light was still not on and that was without a flat battery! I continued charging it for the good part of the next day before it was full.

I also tested it with a volt meter and it read around 12v from the cig lighter before I started charging it so I guess it may take longer than 12 hours to charge to full.

The light functions have always confused me on this car. You can set it to the off position yet daytime driving lights are still on when the engine is running, or leave in home which does the same but then puts them back on when you switch the engine off and open the door. Unless you have the on-board computer to make changes, surely both these options mean your lights are on when driving and there isn't a way to have them turned off...no idea...maybe I'm fick!

Thanks for all your help.

Battery was completely dead. Plugged the CTEK in and the dash and interior lights started to flicker. Hazards flashing and window moved very slowly.
I rang Porsche Bolyon for some advice. 1. As per owners manual use the fuse box and earth to open front. 2. Porsche recovery.
The technician said its unlikely for the Porsche conditioner to bring the battery back to life.
10 mins later interior lights lit properly and dash odometer.
Then 5 mins later alarm went off

I did a bit if reading and I have a video to show others. The CTEK is actually powerful and pulses a dead battery to wake it up.

Left 3 hours. Car started a treat. Went for an 25 minute drive. All is fine.

David. CTEK worth it's weigh In copper.

Glad you got sorted and now I'm glad I ordered the cigar lighter connector even though I don't use it at the moment preferring the direct battery loop connector but if this happenned to me it's good to know I don't need to try and get boot open

Hope for your sake you're right but I suspect the battery is not fine. Be sure at least the battery in your cell phone is good. I think you're going to need it when the car battery strands you.
