Embarassing cars that you like!
Discussion
Are there any cars that you like but don't conform to your usual criteria in terms of image, ability, driving fun etc. I guess these aren't really that embarassing but supposedly not that good either.
Vauxhall Cavalier mk3/Vectra B - I really wanted a Cavalier as my first car (not sure why but I had to settle for an Astra instead) and a black Vectra V6 SRi hatch would still be a top shed IMO (always preferred the look of the Cavalier/Vectra B to the vastly superior Mondeo).
Renault Laguna 1 - Again, not supposed to be a paragon of reliability but my uncle had one (several years ago granted)and it was good-looking and comfortable.
Ford Ka (original) - not very manly, a bit rust-prone and a wheezy engine but I like the distinctive styling and still the most fun (normal) small car that I have driven.
MG ZS - I know that it's a poorly built, body-kitted Rover 45 with a propensity for popping head gaskets but I still really want a ZS 180 V6 or even a 1.8.
Rover 75 - I'm still about 20 years too young to own one but would love a BRG Rover 75 with Sandstone leather, automatic and V6 or diesel engine.
My ultimate embarassment though would have to be a Ford Probe. It was briefly my favourite car in about 1997 before I realised that a Corrado VR6, Fiat Coupe Turbo or even a Honda Prelude or Nissan 200SX were infinitely better. Probably the worst-named car ever but it did have pop-up headlights! I would still be tempted if a tidy, metallic blue V6 came up for shed money! The Capri and XR3i were generally considered pretty naff in the 90s but are now quite coveted. Perhaps the Probe is yet to have its day!
What are your automotive embarassments?

The Austin Maxi.
Drove exactly like a Mini, just bigger. Especially in rally spec.
Many happy memories of dads back in the 70s. In particular parking it at around 11 years old because mum couldn't get it in reverse, (or 5th). Reasonably quick in HLS twin carb spec too.
Strange these days they would be smaller than a MINI.
Keeping the theme also the BMC in many incarnations including MG, 1300GT.
Would surely have been the first hot hatch, if it had a hatchback. Family car with MGB beating performance, not exactly quick by current standards but back in the day.
