T350T - how much to pay?
Discussion
Hi
Lotus owner here - looking to chop my 1 year old elise in for a new 350 (i have lost a healthy £10k on it in 12 mths and am addicted to the rapid depreciation not associated with mass produced porsches etc..)
I have test-driven the car, and love it. My question has probably been asked a million times already, but i have doubts over the sp6 engine. I realise a new 350 will come with a mfr warranty (and beleive me, my lotus has only been on the road for 10mths out of 12). But is it really a bug that outweighs the pleasure of having the car. How long does a typical rebuild take, and should i expect it to need rebuilding within the warranty life of the car? Can i extend the mfr warranty???
Btw I am thinking T350T in Halcyon Midas with blue leather. Anyone else own one of these monsters? (or know of any new models in that spec sitting on a dealers forecourt at present)
Thanks fellas

Here's two in Halcyon Midas Pearl, but with black interior. I've tested the first,
at Silverstone, very nice too.
Have a word with Steve at Silverstone - they have more on order, so I am sure they can help you.

GC, I do ope you are not going to defect to the SP6 side
Looks like he's succumbing, to me.
GCerbera, next time we meet up, you can borrow the keys to convince yourself.
Brucefair; take a look at the posts on the Tuscan thread at the moment re. the survey of S6 engine reliability. Summary: new engines look sorted.
Amount of time a rebuild takes is all subject to change at the moment, given everything that's going on at the factory. I wouldn't worry about it at all on a new/rebuilt car, to be honest.

Sorry to read you'll have a non TVR set soon.
Keys and no petrol!! Still at least it has a decent stereo!
I suspect I'll have the cerbera for a bit, they take a while to sell, the hard thing is going to be avoiding driving it.
Speaking of which what do you think to sticking it on ebay.....
D
We've got one available as well - but with black interior and yellow detailing.

Its not a T350 but i do own a Cerbera in Halycon Midas Pearl with Blue and cream leather
Good combination
Thanks chaps
Am driving up to silverstone saturday am to check out the colour
A brand spanker with ac/pearl, speakers and leather door trims is now £41.5k otr according to the dealer with 6-8 week wait.
Sounds like it's worth getting the extra year warranty? That's the only thing about TVR - 1 year warranty to me shows lack of confidence in their product. Lotus give 2yrs as standard, which really seems to help resale.

Keys... how very quaint
Very good. Even when I had the Cerb I'd never have said "Take if for a spin - here's the shonky Vauxhall parts-bin remote", though. (And I know it may not be a GM part, but that's not the point...)

You'll probably get a load of idiots bidding on it. But I'd still do it. Worst case is it wastes a couple of hours of your life. Best case is you sell your car well over normal private sale price. Not much to lose...
