thinking of buying elise mk1 ( or cooper s )
any advice on what to look for and what to expect from one .
have owned elan turbo and 911 recently .
are the headlamp covers i have seen on some cars aftermarket parts that can be fitted to all mk1's ? steve
Hmmm, winter's coming... stuff it, buy an Elise.
What to look for... that's one hell of a big question, care to narrow it down a bit? Short answer though would be something well looked after, not crashed and with a fully stamped history, go for the newest model you can afford.... pretty much like any other car.
What to expect from one... superb handling, great performance, laughing like an idiot, roof off blasts, reasonable depreciation and running costs, decent mpg, & to look damn cool!
Are headlamp covers aftermarket parts.... some are, some cars came with them as standard (Special editions, 111s, 160 and 190 sports IIRC).
Can headlamp covers be fitted to all S1's... I believe so. Was at Sinclaires the other day who recommended not glueing anymore but attaching them using small bolts (need 2 small holes drilled into the clam to do this)... not a big job I imagine though if the clam's off or if you don't mind fiddling around underneath via wheelarch or front service bay a bit (that's a guess though - not born of fact I'm afraid!).
Get one and
! Tim
