Boot hinge aluminium finishing thingy

The circular finishing thingy that goes round the centre round bit on the boot hinge came off in my hand some time ago and it's been sitting in the liitle tray wotsit at the rear end of the centre armrest/console/whatever.

Looks like a (smooth) resin base that it was sitting on which I guess is what stuck it in place originally. Anyone got any good suggestions what to you use to glue it back in place? I'm thinking something like no nails. I'd hate to stick it back in and then it leap out when I go over the first pot hole. I hate losing bits off the car. Even little bits.
