Career change....

Into undertaking. It's something i've pondered and dismissed for years but recently I have been thinking more and more about it. I'm 28 and currently working, always have done! I've been self employed for the last 4 years but went to Uni (and got a good degree for what it's worth) and have done a variety of jobs since.

How does one go about getting "into" this field? I can't recall ever seeing roles being advertised. Is it something you apprentice in as it were and start from the bottom learning the ropes? I'd be intrigued from any resident PH undertakers or anybody with any input!

I've been looking for someone I used to work with on LinkedIn. We used to work in Front Office at a large bank. He's now a commercial pilot. I think you just need to go for it, if it's what you really want to do.

I hear the competition for jobs is quite stiff - you have to be dead lucky to get anywhere in this game.

Can't comment on job availability, but as part of my job 10 years ago I used to travel the country visiting undertakers. They were all a really good laugh and seemed quite a good place to work.
