Got most of the day so time isn't really an issue.

Which way would you go? Not really feeling being bored to tears on the M42 etc

http://goo.gl/maps/xD08p

Most likely head up the M6 until stoke then to Leek/Buxton...
Any roads I should be going out my way slightly to hunt out for a bit of fun?
Taking the camera so good scenery is a must.
Dont know the area well so open to suggestions.

Bit of a boring topic but just writing down a few pace notes so thought id quickly ask.

mmm a34 from cannock to stone

a520 to leek, a53 to buxton don't go into buxton go to harpur hill onto a515 get off onto a5270 to a6 then onto b6049 to millers dale follow nose to bradwell then hathersage then, Sheffield

littered with 50 mph but if you are in an 89 mini, probably top speed

could go a6 to bakewell getting off a6 onto 6020 to chatsworth then follow a621 to town

don't know worcester to north of b'ham

may be a better route through derby, belper, amber valley area

could go a515 from lichfield to buxton, that is all fking 50 "for my own benefit" or "a reason" wide open road with visibility good for 100+

could go to monyash and bakewell then chatsworth then sheffield

edited for my own illiteracy

A520 into Leek, A53 almost into Buxton, hang a left to go through Harpur Hill, then at Brierlow Bar Bookshop take a right that takes you to the A6. Follow A6 until Ashford-in-the-Water then take a right onto the A6020 and follow that until you get to a roundabout. Go straight on at the roundabout then pick up the A619 "13 Bends" to Baslow. Then pick up A621 at the other side of Baslow and follow all the way into Sheffield.

As Terry Tibbs said lots of 50mph speed limits with the likelihood of scamera vans about so just be careful!

Just get into the Peak District and drive north. Might even be worth going a bit further north and getting onto Snake Pass (Glossop - Sheffield) if you want something a bit interesting.

Think I ended up going the way as described.
Chucked a map in the back and just went for it. Was a decent drive just a few lorries and Honda jazz spoiling the fun slightly.
