Guys, fancy a decent battle of Britain Sim with decent graphics and game play. Have seen the IL-2 cliffs over Dover offering but it seems you need to be a real pilot to use it and even get up in the airbiggrin

So what is out there, I've seen combat wings B of B and air battles sky defender but they seem to be old games and have trouble running on Win 7....so I'm stuck.

Any others out there for win7 and not too techie?

Cheers lads!

I play birds of steel on the console. Pretty good fun for WW2 flying stuff!

Wings of Prey?

Video of gameplay here

Currently only a tenner on Steam smile

ETA: has a few modes that allow easy plane control or full on sim style flying, and with a half decent video card it looks AMAZING! biggrin Also has no problems on Win7 as it was released in 2010.

Cheers Graham but we've only got a Wii console and all I can find for that is bloody Zumba dancing and Yogabiggrin

Mr Happy..........great shout, missed that one. Looks too good to be true and exactly what I was hoping to find, nice one mate!! thanks.

It looks brilliant and reviews rate it too......it seems it's linked to the IL 2 sim I'd decided was too hard..but this one has numpty mode;)

Good news is it's 6 quid on Amazon and they've an el cheapo Thrustmaster on offer as well.............better than using a mouse or the steering wheel. Will order it now.

Thanks once more, appreciated.

i thought the assists on IL-2 made it flyable by ham-fisted people like me. at least, i could always fly the planes on it, and when i turned off the assists i would always stall them and smash into the ground.

No worries, it's one of the games I have in my steam library that I have a criminally low amount of playtime on. I completed it on the xbox (where it's called Il2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey) but snagged it on the PC because the graphics are leagues ahead.

Rather than a full on thrustmaster rig, I just use a wired xbox 360 pad on the PC - might be worth considering?

Thanks again lads.........ordered the Wings of prey and a thrustmaster USB Joystick off Amazon for the total price of 21 quid......can't go wrong. The graphics do look great and apparantly it is IL 2 anyway. Thanks for the other links to games.........they are saved now as well for future reference........top blokes thanksbeer

Similar to that is War Thunder, it's currently in open beta but seems quite similar to World of Tanks but with planes, there's plans to add tanks and ships to it too.

War Thunder is made by the same developers of Wings of Prey/Birds of Steel. Its free to play, graphics are ace and it's pretty good fun to boot.

I have that, and always thought the dogfighting was far too easy. Not getting shot to st by flak was harder than the dogfighting.
