Picking up a 61 plate jcw coupe on Wednesday, i'm using Mini's free 7 day insurance and they have given me a quote of £490 for the year, i'm just the wrong side of 50!, no points, no accidents, garaged, does this sound a good deal, what are others paying?

Hi Gary please don't take this the wrong way, lol, but give Saga a try they did an amazing deal on my Audi.

Our Mini Club (East Coast Mini Club) google it, we have a great deal tied up with a major Insurer if you care to join and love to have you as a member with your Coupe.

Where do you live OP? If it's a high-risk area (Sheffield, Liverpool, London etc...) £490 sounds OK but if it's a low-risk area that sounds quite expensive - FWIW I had a JCW hatch up until early last year and my last renewal for it (28, 7 years NCB, low-risk postcode) was £426

Hi Sam, North Dorset very low risk area, ive been paying 350 for a 225 quattro mk1 tt (with a couple of mods), but i suppose i have to work in the extra value of the car, just wasnt quite expecting that much as more or less same group as the tt.
I have read somewhere just to go on the comparison sites as Mini's insurance is dear?

My OH got a quote from MINI when she bought hers, it was double what she got from one of the comparison sites. Shop around, you'll find a better deal.

BTW increased value of the car wont necessarily mean increased premiums. Our MINI is worth about 30x the car it replaced, but the insurance is less!
