Would like to make some KFC style chicken tonight to be consumed in front of a good film (not sure what film yet).

Can you please share your best recipes for the chicken and the beans please.

It's a bit late for you now, but for next time, get this book:

Take-Away Secrets

About the author:
[quote]At the age of 19, Kenny McGovern was diagnosed with what's known as 'Social Anxiety Disorder' and eventually became too ill to carry on working. As the years passed, he became almost housebound as a result of his illness and as such lost touch with many parts of life which although enjoyable are often taken for granted. Simple pleasures such as buying a nice sandwich from a local cafe or going out for a meal became impossible for him to do. As a result of this, and because of his love of food and cooking, he eventually took to trying to recreate many of his favourite shop-bought foods at home. 'If I can't go to McDonalds, I'll make my own,' was his philosophy. Over a period of five years or more, he has tested and tweaked many, many recipes, his new hobby quickly building into an obsession.

Ok so thats the chicken sorted. What about the beans?

I was thinking along the lines of a tin of BB add some Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar maybe some paprika!

Don't expect too much out of that recipe. It's not a bad taste, but it is not KFC

Get the chicken soaking in some brine ASAP - water, salt, sugar, bay leaf, pepper

Can also add granulated garlick, basil and sage.

Doing the chicken In buttermilk is also good, see YouTube for recipe.

There's nothing wrong with just adding BBQ/jerk sauce to beans tbh.

Close to KFC , Mace, thyme, oregano and black pepper.
Fiddle with the quantities until the dry ingredients taste the way you want them to.
Make fine breadcrumbs, mix dry spices with crumbs, dont be stingey with spices.
Dip chicken in beaten egg then herby crumbs and deep fry.
Yum!!

The primary ingredient required to make something taste like KFC is the Accent stuff. Monosodium Glutamate to you and me.

I actually have some (you can buy it from Chinese stores). You'd be amazed at how well it works. In conjunction with salt it makes sauces, batters etc very savoury.

Whether or not it's good for you is a separate question!

Are you sure you haven't already got it? According to this you ordered it a while ago!

(Not stalking you BTW, just saw this thread and was sure the KFC thing had been done in detail here before!) biggrin
