I also had that thought, but surely American Speed wouldnt supply him a set up for an Ultima that wouldnt fit?
He is on another planet with his pricing anyway..

You have to create an extension to the bulkhead to allow the pulleys to clear (I did it with an AS supercharged .383 with Weiand 177 charger).

If I was spending that sort of money on a motor - it wouldn't be this setup (but that's just me). Probably a monster engine, but the thought of cooling it makes me shudder.

That's the engine in the black £64k one - so £64k with it without engine - maybe it's a spare

I dont think so, the blackone is unfinished and unregistered.
The 64k is for the whole package as far as I could tell, he doesnt stand a cat in hells chance of selling though.
The engine listing states that selling "this asset" will allow him to finish the black car..34k buys a lot of LS power...

Thinking....well, Old and new combined .........simplicity. !

I respect the ease of blower power but as the Ultima is a simple recipie why not continue this way ?

Nor forgetting the original racer and its all-iron sbc lump (as a target weight and distribution datum !!) .. keeping the whole package in mind always.

Please clarify exactly what you mean by this?
It is an expensive engine for sure but any engine builder would need to charge a comparable amount of money to build an engine to the same spec. Do you have links to other new engines built to the same spec that are significantly cheaper?

Regards to all,[/quote

I was actually concerned with the advice given to the buyer by the engine builders as to the practicalities of such an engine in the given application. He literally pissed away 34k and now cant finish his build!

You are misinformed and basing your postings without knowing the facts as usual.

The customer specifically requested an engine to that spec, if he had listened to the advice of AS or ourselves he wouldn’t have purchased it at all. Furthermore the customer then didn’t pay the balance owed for the engine when it was finished, it stood for around 2 years gathering dust leaving AS out of pocket before a different customer who bought the unfinished project then did a deal on the engine and settled the bill.

So to suggest the customer was "screwed over" as suggested in your posting is frankly an insult of the highest order.

so are you now saying that HE didnt pay 34k for that engine then?

Aside from the banter there seems to be general agreement this engine is a little over-kill in many aspects for the inital, intended application.

At that stated spec it would seem more appropriate advertised/touted around drag circles ?

G Luck.

It will be a very strong engine and could always be ran at more conservative power levels too.

Incidentally it will also need a set of custom exhaust headers manufacturing for it to match the pattern of those special heads, as we advised the original customer.

Regards to all,

Very true on the de-tune .... but a bit of a waste of potential and top end parts..... over 800 must be bragging about your pocket money ..

Stick some zoomies on it !! biggrin

Would a standard chassis be happy dealing with a genuine 1200 ponies?

Factory details talk of a chassis design for 1000hp. In the US some have gone to 1200hp with twin turbos. I don't know if the chassis is reinforced for the extra horses.
For our info, what do you want to do with 1200 ponies? With a 350hp set up the Ultima is already FAST...! As Ted for a test drive.
