2013 Mercedes F1WO4 Car Reveal

Mercedes appear to be doing some sort of unusual car reveal. At 4pm GMT a garage door will start to open on their website, and the rate of which this door opens is dictated by the speed at which people tweet about.

Still, looking forward to seeing the car. Kind of hope the colour scheme changes a bit, not been overly fond of it.

So in 20 mins, the reveal starts.

Epic Fail - The problem is that Merc has too many Technical directors and nobody was sure which of them was in charge of online launches - LOL

and I can say that as I run a digital agency. Someone really didn't have a clue about the load it was going to generate

They won't be able to retrieve this any time soon - it's effectively a DOS attack with 1000's of legitimate fans wanting to see the new car and constantly refreshing.

according to their twitter feed they are swapping servers to get the site up and running..
More like they are desperately buying more bandwidth & servers from their host company

Some have played with the pic above, no step nose this year.

For whatever reason it's hosted outside the Merc group with a small IT/hosting company called Knipp
Not that it's their fault it's the web agency's fault for not provisioning the servers and bandwidth needed for this kind of launch. Looks like it's sat on shared server - not even a dedicated box.

Wonder if Monday morning they might be looking for a new agency and hosting partner

They won't reveal the car until Monday ?!

It wasn't the launch anyway, thats on Monday.. from what I can work out it was just meant to be a sneak peek.
The site is up again and the idea is the more people tweet the more it will show, but I doubt it will show the whole thing.
