after several years of not even turning the ps3 on, i have rediscovered my love for gaming. work and kids meant that i just lost all track of new game series and releases, i was given farcry 3 and dishonored for xmas and now im hooked all over again, like the c64 and megadrive years of old. my question is where to go now. i've got lots of catching up to do shoottype

the game series im looking at are the following: assassins creed, infamous, fallout, crysis, hitman

should i go for the latest release of each or is it worth starting from the beginning? are there any other title series that i should consider along the first\third person shooter or adventure lines (im not into the online multiplayer stuff). all advice and recommendations muchly appreciated.

Fallout 3 is amazing but you will lose so many hours of your life to it. Assasins creed I'd say play from the start it's a great series and you can perfect your technique with every game smile only played the first infamous but never found it overly brilliant and didn't even finish it. Half life series is good, can get 3 games in 'the orange box' for consoles.

As above, Fallout 3 is a time vampire - you will switch it on for "an hour" and 4-5 hours later will wonder where the hell the time went.

For online gaming, Battlefield 3.

This is an excelelnt shout. You can get the trilogy for PS3 now and each game will stand you for circa 40 hours of gameplay if you take your time. An Epic trilogy!

New Vegas has been made deeper and is more complex, but in doing that they've lost most of the fun!

+1 on Fallout 3. Make sure you get the "game of the year edition" as you get all of the dlc included and one of those adds extra "level ups". I've played over 1000+ hours on that game and 500+ on Oblivion by the same developer. Truly epic games! bow

It's great for just jumping on when you only have a few minutes to kill. No real missions, just fun.

The latest Hitman is rubbish.

My pic of the games are:

La Noire
Heavy Rain
Skyrim
Mass Effect 2 or 3.

Chucked in how long roughly I spent on those. Some could be hires. Fallout 3 is Skyrim with guns.
