Been trying to get the Y piece off today but I think I'm going to have to take the exhaust off. So to get the exhaust off do you have to drop the rear roll bar or does it wiggle out?
Also when I get them off I would like to tidy them a bit what's peoples opinions on either paint or polish?
thanks Graeme

Have you undone the exhaust mounting bolt on the engine? That should give you enough lateral movement to get the cat out

seems to vary from car to car, some are able to get the Y piece out with the exhaust on while others, myself included, need to remove the exhaust. Bit of a pain really as it has stopped me getting a decat Y piece do to the hassle of changing it for MOTs.

Is it the length inside th "y" piece?, if so is it possible that when you have taken it off once, trim the system so you can remove the "y" in situ
Only a suggestion

Must of had mine off 10 times, defo not without the exhaust system off.

It's amazing how quick you can get the whole lot off with a bit of practise smile.

The only 2 nuts are on the clamps.
So you want to lubricate your nuts to ease removal from the flange clamps!! fnar fnar laugh

You don't need to drop the entire rear anti-roll bar, just remove the two mounting brackets and the exhaust will drop far enough that you can push it rearwards so that it clears the Y-piece.

Good shout, that's what I do and the arb acts as a neat support for the system.

Don't forget the 1/2" bolt on the side of the engine that bolts the first section of exhaust to the block.
