Forester barge time!

We sold my girlfriend's GTI on the weekend and went out and picked up something of a bargain, and I think you'll like it...
MY04 ('53) Subaru Forester XT

Full service history
Unmarked interior
Full leather
Headed seats
Huge sun roof
Cruise control
Nice subtle exhaust
It needs some work to the body, the front bumper will need repainting as it's peeling from a scratch and I need a new cover for one of the headlight jets. There's also a lot of scratches that need polishing out and a few dings on the bonnet but all of this is simple to sort out and is part of the fun.
Mechanically it's in very good shape with no odd noises from the engine at all. It also pulls like a train so I'm wondering if it is standard or has been remapped at some point. I'm planning to put it in for an inspection just in case I've missed anything but it drives superbly well. There is a knocking from the front which sounds like the ARB but I've already agreed with the missus that if anything breaks we replace and improve at the same time.
Two terrible photos taken this morning for you, but I'll add more once I start the TLC.
I'll get some photos up of the interior as it's in better shape than my Hawkeye STI was.
Anyway, not bad for £2800

Have to wait until my insurance company decides what to do with my current car first - having sold it last weekend pending a new tyre, I got the tyre fitted only be be rear ended on the way home. Smashed bumper, bent exhaust, wrecked tailgate and creased boot floor. Result - buyer has pulled out and car is off to be assessed. Hopefully it's a write off so I can get on and replace it - I don't want to have to sell it with a rear end repair...corvus said:

Is it auto or manual? And what are they like at those sort of cruising speeds? Noisy?Also is it comfortable?
Booked it in at Subaru for an inspection to draw up a list of things to fix with the idea being to update or upgrade. There's an 8 week lead time to have the front bumper resprayed at £240 so that'll be an April job but I'm going to get it detailed and corrected ASAP. That should reveal any deeper scratches that need touching up.

Hope it goes well for you - unfortunately i am now having to fight the temptation
- of opting for this over the more sensible (ahem) option of something VAG or Ford instead.
