I have a 2006 Audi 2.0TFSI. 67K miles serviced as per regs.
I had a Revo remap done on it last week.
On 28th Jan (Monday) night on the way home, the oil pressure light came on for a few seconds and then turned off.
Next day started up the car and no light. Went out and everything seems fine. Oil level just needed topping up a bit.
1 day later car started to miss fire. Called out recovery and cylinder 2 coil pack had gone. He checked problems on the hand held ECU reader and no other errors. Replaced the coil pack and the car is fine now.
Its been 6 days since the oil pressure light.
Should I be concerned?

Possibly.
How big a power jump have you made?
A remap will always put more stress on the engine and shorten
the life of some components.
How does the car feel/perform otherwise?

Personally, yes I would be a bit concerned.

REVO have put it up to safe level. Its 255bhp and I have confirmned this with REVO and the garage that did it.
The car is running fine and it was a week tomorrow since it came on for a few seconds

Just keep an eye on it then and if you notice anything else untoward then get it in to be looked at.
It`s probably best to be a little too paranoid than a little too blase`.

As far as I am aware the oil pressure and oil level light are different, can't see the pressure light coming on just because it needed 'topping up a bit'.

Definitely the red pressure light that came on?

Thanks
I have just emailed the garage who remapped it to see what they think.
The recovery garage didn't seem concerned, but hey its not their car!
I would of thought if it was a oil pressure problem it would of turned back on by now. It has been 1 week tomorrow since it came on

Yes it was definitely the oil pressure not the yellow oil level. I wish it had of been that one!

If it is the oil pressure light then if it reappears again, even briefly, I would be inclined to get it in for a proper look over.
Oil pressure light is more like a "Serious Garage Bill Ahead" light so I would be cautious but not paranoid if that makes sense.
Better that than to have the engine let go miles from home.
What sort of warranty do you have with regards to the car and remap?

NO warranty
30 days on the remap

I would presume any warranty on the remap would not cover damage to the engine caused by the remap, just the cost of the remap itself.
I may be wrong about that though but they are buggers for not paying for "consequential loss".

If the level was low enough, with cornering forces or acceleration/ braking forces high enough, it is possible for the oil pick up pipe to become uncovered, thus sucking up air instead of oil. This can give a brief low pressure situation, until the oil pick up becomes submerged again & collects more oil.

A few seconds should not do any damage, but oil surge/ starvation has killed many engines due to low level & poor oil control during cornering.

Remap has nothing to do with it at all IMHO.

Any instance of the car misbehaving in any way prior to the remap?
As above poster said it might not be remap related but it seems a bit of a coincidence if the car was totally faultless prior to it.

I was driving round a corner just at the end of my road.
The next day the coil pack went at the same point in the road. Spooky

There's little chance of a slight power hike from a flash killing an oil pump unless it already had problems, I can only suggest getting someone you trust to have a look at it. I normally recommend taking a car to a friendly rolling road for a power run and a check over after having a flash too if you're not 100% clued up on things, just to check for any detonation amongst other stuff. For the sake of another £40ish its worth it.

I`d want it checking for peace of mind I think but that may well cost you money so it`s up to you really.
No way to be definitive without a good look at the vehicle.

If it`s totally fine over the next week or so then you`re probably OK and it`s just a glitch.
Maybe just keep a keen eye on it for a little while bearing in mind you only have 30 days on the remap warranty (whatever thats worth).

Does the TFSI engine suffer from the same oil pickup blockage problems as the 1.8T?

Are you sure it oil pressure light, and not check engine light?

Also its very common for a remap/boost increase to show up any weakness in the ignition system and vag cars do seem to use coilpacks as consumables.

Low oil level tends to be an orange advisory light whereas low oil pressure tends to be a big red STOP NOW kind of deal.

Many cars don`t have an oil pressure warning at all.

All the cars I have ever seen have a low pressure warning light, I thought it was mandatory?
