What are the options for replacement front discs and pads for a 02 wrx sti, with the gold brembo's. I don't want anything other than oem as they are fine for me but seeing costs of around £600 for discs and £260 for pads which seems a bit steep!

Sounds about right for Brembo bits. They charge more for brake discs and pads than any other manufacturers of brake components as they are known. Having said that, generally their brake parts are very good.

You'll be one of the few people who still use Brembo pads and discs. There are far far better components for the same money or equally as good for a lot lot less.

Alyn at AS Performance will supply quality kit for far less than prices quoted above.

Try Ian at GodSpeed. If you don't need to change rotors and have plenty of meat left on tham just change pads. Your pads make the single biggest difference to how good your braking is, not rotors. Try some EBC BlueStuff or OrangeStuff, Carbone Lorraine, StopTech, Performance Friction....How deep are your pockets? biggrin

+1 Except for the Bluestuff recommendation. I have them on my Evo and I can't recommend them unfortunately.

They seem to work really well on scoobs. Lots of good reports from owners. What suits one won't suit another.

You might be happier with PF, Stoptech or carbone lorraine.

Another +1 for Godspeed. £400 (possibly in a sale) for 4 grooved discs and 4 pairs of kevlar pads on my 04 plate sti. Replaced them towards end of last year. Every bit as good as oem probably a little better but not into track days or anything that really tests them.

Not worth the £400 then?

I went with Brembos on my STI. Well I went with EBC first and 1000 miles of regular driving and a fast-approaching roundabout later I cursed their name and went back to Brembo. Godspeed would be great too and a bit cheaper.
