Does anyone on here have any experience of either (or both!?) of these tyres? judging by the new ratings on fuel efficiency, wet braking/grip and noise it seems the Goodyears may be a better overall package....

thoughts?

Ross.

I'm on my second set of the Goodyears. I rate them very highly. Wet grip is very good.

I am on my first set of Goodyears. They're much better than the Pirelli P6000's that were on before. This is on a Volvo C70 T5 for reference.

Mine came with the Dunlops fitted, and when they needed changing (lasted approx 11000 miles),
I swapped them for Goodyear asymmetric 2's

Imo the Goodyears are far superior, infact I couldn't wait to get rid of the Dunlops they were so bad.

thanks for that. interesting about the dunlops though, i've found them to be very, very good. admittedly i probably haven't REALLY pushed them but they seem to grip remarkably well.

they seem to be very similarly priced so looking like it may be the goodyears i go for.

The Goodyears are extremely good tyres, debatably the best all-round tyre on the market at the moment. I haven't used the Dunlops, though.

The Assymetric 2's are excellent tyres, very happy with them.

Not tried the dunlops but Goodyears were great on my old golf

Goodyears are fantastic in the wet and dry, I've never managed to understeer on them, even when going considerably faster than the prior budget tyres could manage.

Just don't attempt to use them in the snow.

I had a set of the goodyear F1 AS2 my Civic, they were very good and far superior to any of the other tyres that I had tried over the 4 previous years of ownership (Continentals, Pirelli and Michelin).

so, they're not much good then? hehe

sounds like a set of Goodyears it is then. just a shame they're so bloody expensive frown but if they're £100 per axle more than a cheaper set....that £100 will last >30-40k miles on the front so in reality not that much as an investment i guess.

Sport 01 must be ancient now. Can you get the fast response for the same money? Found them excellent on Lexus & merc barges I've had.

I have the Dunlops on my 530i & they are really good.

I'd expect the GY to be very good too.

Why spend so much? Falken do great tyres for a price. Admittedly it doesn't look as "cool bro" when you have Falkens on the car same as Hankooks or Verdestein's. I know for my next set I'll be getting the latter's Ultrac Sessanta's

No, Falken do over-hyped tyres a price. Whether you consider the extra performance worthwhile is entirely up to you but there is a noticeable difference between the Falkens and the Goodyears/Contis etc despite the Falkens 'internet hero' status.

For example:

Not a very impressive showing by Falken versus the F1 Assymetric 2.

I have the 912's on my barge.

Tyre reviews are highly subjective and depend on so many things, but I find them safe but noticeably not up to the premiums. They aren't Linglongs but they aren't Conti's either. You get what you pay for.

One word of warning I would give about the F!s, though; they feel greasy as fk when they are new. They need a good 500 miles to bed in.

As said tyre reviews are subjective as are all our opinions, but at least I have driven the different brands on same model cars to make my opinion. The only tailoff with the Falkens was road noise at their 50 to 60% range but that was equivilant to Bridgestones from new.
