I've picked up a Forester XT over the weekend (see Readers' Cars for details) and would like to improve the exhaust a little. It's got a Powerflex one on at the moment which is a custom one meaning it could be any degree of noise and volume. However, it's not quite what I want so I'd like to know what my options are.

I understand that all 2.0 Newage Impreza exhausts will also fit the Fossy, is this correct?

Failing that where and what have you guys seen?

I'm a Hayward and Scott fan. Also look up Milltek.

Nice timing as I listened to a clip of a 2003 WRX with a H&S center and backbox on. The sound is much more full bodied so I think that'll be the way forward.

It's a shame that decat on a 53 plate will fail an MOT. I don't want a £600 sports car and neither the faffing around with swapping sections every year.

I have a full H&S system on mine - it is loud. So loud in fact that I may be sending it back so that they can put some more muffling in the silencer. I'm all for a throaty exhaust but 2 hrs on the motorway leaves you with a headache, its that loud! It also makes the car sound a bit too "bazzed up" which contradicts its otherwise stealthy appearance.

I have a 2.5XT and wanted just the same as you. A nice boxer burble with depth but not too loud.

I opted for a h&s backbox and its perfect. I'm happy AND the wife's happy!

Note though I did request the exhaust they made for mine was quieter than a standard h&s backbox.

Hope that helps.

Thanks very much. I'm going down the same route with a cat delete as well.

Blitz Nur Spec is the one, not for shrinking violets though.

No it's not. It's does not sound as good as an Afterburner Vortex at full chat. However, if your 14 and enjoy litterally waking the dead then you might like it. Also, they give you a headache on a run. I speak from expierence having owned various combinations of; prodrive sports cats, de-resonated centre pipe, prodrive backbox, Ninja 2, Afterburner Vortex and Nur Spec R.

It sounds better than an Afterburner Vortex (can't speak for the original Afterburner though) at idle, part load and full chat. Opinions are fun.

Sorry, it does not... Trust me wink furthermore the blitz is not known for being the best performer, as it's 3 inches and therefore gives up torque unless your running a bigger turbo! I honestly felt less performance when running one, hence why I sold it!
