Does anyone know?

Because I'd like to buy a fking magnum and fking shoot them in the fking face for taking so fking long to fking sort this fking st out!!!!

What the hell takes this long? Small companies manage to develop whole cars in this time and these muppets cant even get a damn type approval on an existing fking tyre? What are they doing? Re-inventing the fking wheel on tyre compounds? If they ever are fking released I'm going to buy one and send it to a fking lab to test against a regular super sport to see the fking difference, and if there is none then I'm going to set myself on fire in front of the Michelin head office with a super fking sport around my neck in protest, the fking s!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

My beef with Michelin is that their range doesn't include sizes to fit a 996T.

Michelin aren't going to do a PSS N tyre in 997 sizes. They announced it a few months back, was posted on here, can't find the actual thread now though.

Absolutely. Stop giving yourself a heart attack and just fit them.

I happened to ask yesterday:

"Thank you for your enquiry about Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

"We are currently in the process of working with Porsche on the approval of these sizes.

"Unfortunately, we are not in a position to say when the approval will be obtained, as it depends on many different factors.

"Therefore we do not have any dates for when we will have the N specification tyres available."

The text was in two different fonts, so it seems just a standard fob-off pasted into the reply.

I find it odd they managed to be so quick with the Pilot Alpins.

So what's the benefit of N ratings?

I'm in Dubai and there can be a three month wait for any type of tyres - I gave up trying to get PS2s from the dealership so went with non-N Rated P-Zeros and they've been great.

I'll try the SuperSport but I won't be bothered if they're not rated.

I went with non N rated Conti Sport Contacts.. I only fitted them due to having caught a flat on Christmas eve and needing the car on the road over the holidays, they were all the tyre place had in at the time, all any tyre place had for that matter. I've been perfectly happy with them and my Indy said not to worry, he has non N tyres on his car and it's never bothered him either

It does seem somewhat short sighted. Both Michelin and Porsche stand to benefit by attaining sign off; Michelin probably a little more. I can only guess at the comical sums Porsche are probably requesting for this. And guess who will pay the premium long term?

All their fannying about is our gain as the tyres remain a reasonable price without the porsche tax.

If you don't fit rated tyres, does it affect your warranty or insurance...? Not heard of anything like that here in the UAE.

That is the main reason why you'd choose not to fit Pilot Super Sports in the UK - the extended warranty would be void.

Been running them for a while now as road tires on a 997RS.1. Much better wear, infinitely better in the wet compared to Cups. Don't get that queasy feeling in a rainstorm!

One thing I did notice on the equivelent size Michelin SS compared to PS2 Nx tyres is that the loading is higher which usually means stiffer sidewalls.

I wonder what effect this has on the ride and also handling?

If Porsche ever approve the Michelin SS and make it N rated I wonder if they will specify a lower load rating e.g. 235/35/19 87Y instaed of the 91Y currently in the same size.

I did read somewhere that Porsche are working towards N rated approval but if it happens it will only be for the current models which are different sizes to superceded models e.g. wheel sizes have now increaed by 1" diameter on std. and option OEM wheels compared to predecessor

the load rating on the N rated (N0) Pirelli Corsas on the front (235/35/19) of my 7.2 GT3 is 91Y ..
