Photo Comp and Photo Challenge?

Just out of curiosity - why are there two seemingly similar threads? I did try a search as I can't imagine anyone hasn't asked this before but the PH Google Search substitute is crap and I couldn't get any results after trying half a dozen variations.

I think one has to be taken in the month of the contest, that's the main difference.

IIRC, someone had a great idea for a photo challenge. Hence one started.

Then someone else came up with the idea that photos ONLY TAKEN IN THE MONTH of the competition would be a good idea.

Then people had a compromise

Then they fought a bit

Then someone invented the daguerreotype

Then we all went out for a



It may, or may not, have been that. Or something similar.


Or nothing like that at all.

Pretty close beano. The "photo comp" has been around for years and allows anyone to post up any image they have taken (in the theme) from their entire photo library. I, ahem, started the "Photo challenge" to get people out shooting for a particular subject.
