Comfy, practical-ish auto for £5k?
Discussion
Sold the MX5 yesterday (
) and feel like I can't leave buying another car too long!
Wife is sorted with the S Max now which leaves me with out fantastically reliable, but utterly dull Honda Civic CDTI.
In my current job I am barely doing 5000 miles a year which makes having a diesel ridiculous. The traffic also means I do an astonishing amount of heavy clutch work within the space of 7 miles.
So was thinking about chopping the Civic in for a slusher. Something that I can hop out of my comfy bed and into that won't feel disimilar to being wrapped up in a lovely warm duvet.
Would need to be as practical (i.e. big) as the Civic and ideally about the same value - so (am guessing here) about £5-6k.
MPG not too fussed, although at least 25 in normal traffic would be desirable.
Must be petrol and not too much bork-factor!
I know nothing about automatics so ideas please!

Can't see past this for 5-6k. Would be less than 25mpg in traffic though. But just look at it! Rare TI model too, probably only about 20 in the uk, which is good news for resale.
No more bork potential than any BMW or merc at this price level, especially as this one has only done 42k.

One point I didn't make in my OP is a decent engine would be good (e.g. for an E Class I would look at the E350).
Not for £5k you won't! E320 petrol you will, or a leggy E320 cdi.The Saab 9-5 sounds like a good shout, you'd get a nice speccy late plate car for the money. Alfa sounds interesting if you dare to be different!
