So it looks like at least one game played in the UK was subject to match fixing in the last 3-4 years.

Wonder who?

Interesting. It's a team that has competed in the champions league. If this proves to be true what are the penalties? Point reductions, automatic relagation. It has to be something big other then a massive fine to please the fans. I expect a huge revolt if this proved to be true. Interesting times.

Match fixing is huge, including world cup games.

Well worth having a read of this book

One that involves an English team in the champions league no less, has to be a first? As a football fan I'd want the team responsible for such acts to be punished harshly. Relegation should be the mininum and a ban from competing in the champions league for a set amount of years.

I'd love to know what team it is.

Wow!

This could do a lot of harm to football in this country. I do hope that the team responsible does get relegated, but as its Champions League, its probably more likely that the team in question will be banned from the ECL?

I would laugh so much if it was Chelsea or Man Utd, and the punishment was relegation byebye

So would I, but as a Chelsea fan, I've got a horrible feeling that I'm not going to like it if I do find out!

Can you be involved in a fixed match without knowing though? So just because a team played in a game and it was proven to be fixed you might have just gone about the match as normal? What was the bet...that a team lost, or a goal was conceded between the 20th and 30th minute, was it an own goal?

Proving all this must be really difficult?

As an Arsenal fan, if it turned out that they were responsible, I'd post my season ticket back in a heartbeat and demand that they get relegated just as every other football fan should.

Lets hope it's the spuds hehe

I don't think a whole club should be responsible for the selfish act of 1 player. It would be like Man United being banned from the EPL because Cantona decided to Kung Fu kick some fan.

The problem is finding evidence to support the case that it was JUST 1 player who was responsible. Wasn't Juventus relegated for this very reason?

Given the number of CL games Spuds have played in, the odds of that are billions to 1 against. hehe

Please let it be Man U, please let it be Man U.

My take is that it is a UK game, not necessarily a UK team that was fixing the result. So for the moment it is anyone's guess.

My guess is it is one of the Eastern Euro teams playing over here and how many they would lose by.

I’m pretty sure the owners were involved in Juve’s downfall.

If it’s the owners then it’s another matter. However, an employee acting like a cock is more likely.

If it’s an EPL club involved, then unless it’s Man City, I can’t see it. Even Chelsea have a large majority of British stakeholders don’t they? I just can’t see them being THAT stupid. I could only see the foreign, greedy fkers doing something like this.

Maybe it’s another reason why ‘Arry wasn’t picked as England manager… oh god. Maicon and Redknapp isn’t it? Haha.

How little you know of the club I love!

But Chelsea Barca 2009 is the one that springs to mind. Like most fans, I've seen some poor reffing displays in my time, but that game is the only time my view of the ref have moved from incompetance to suspicions of crookedness.

If it is a British club and any bookmakers are offering odds, I'm going to have a stack on Chelsea. At least the winnings will cheer me up when we get kicked out of Europe and relegated to League 2.
