Hi all,

My girlfriend recently bought a MINI as above, and there seems to be some trouble with the driver's side electric window. It moves up and down when the door is opened. When the switch is pressed up, you can hear a click as if the window would go up if it was not already up, but when pressed down, there is nothing, and the window will not move. The passenger window operates perfectly.

I heard of a reset procedure somewhere that instructed me to hold the switch up with the engine running for 10 seconds, but this did not work.

It is a very vexing problem, and I don't mind admitting I have no idea! Is the switch at fault? Looking at switches online, it comes as part of a bank of switches with a multi plug in the back, although I suppose it could have broken down internally.

Thanks in advance guys, would like to get to the bottom of this before she drives into a car park with a ticket machine at the entrance wink.

My old Cooper S used to do this occasionally. Give the inside of the lower door a good smack (not so hard as to damage the trim!) just above the speaker and you should be back in business. It always worked for me.
