So my partners company car is going and she has always hankered after either one of these, will be a daily driver but low miles so just wondered what people's experiences were? And yes I'm very lucky to have a lady so into cars smile Xkr is also the short list but I know very little regarding the first two.

As a fun car, either would be fine - of those two, I'd have the Vantage - but not as a daily driver. A 991 or R8 would be a much better bet for everyday usage.

Id check out the maserati section on here, seem to be quite a few owners, not driven either but the gransport is meant to be very good.

I think most people have heard the ixed reviews on the vantage, yet it does look stunning, the gransports more sports gt, with four seats though, so might be more practical if you hve kids.

I think these are cars to be driven before making a choice - I'd probably end up in the Maserati, looking at them from an armchair, but having never driven either I can't say for sure.

I'd spend more and get the gen2 without the chocolate engine.

I don't know, plenty of people drive them to docklands every day. I'd go for a Vantage.

I've had two Vantages and a friend who commuted in his 4200
At £35k I'd go with the Gransport and the F1 box ecu upgraded
You will struggle to get a good 4.3 Vantage for that money
However neither of them are great as a daily drive

I remember during the credit crunch in 07/08, Vantages were going for low 30`s!!
I dunno, personally I Found the 4.3 a bit disappointing. Expected more poke for the price..

I have a 2006 Vantage and whilst I love the car, it would not be a great daily driver. Sexy, yes. Practical, no.

Not now
Only one sub £30k on here and all others below £35k are very early cars
Yes the 4.3 can feel a bit slow, but Astons are not about the performance!

I had an AMV8, got rid of it for a Ferrari 360; wanted the V8 back.

Got rid of the 360 for an M3, wanted the V8 back.

Got rid of the M3 for a Bentley GT, wanted the V8 back.

Got rid of the Bentley GT for a Granturismo, wanted the V8 back.

You see a common theme here, yes i had some better cars than the V8, yet none gave me a better sense of occasion than the Aston.

The only reason i've not bought another V8 is because i'm looking for the perfect AMV12 biggrin

out of those two the Aston, but in more general terms it would have to be a Porker 997

Swapped my 911 for my mates V8 for the day and I was totally underwhelmed by it maybe I was expecting too much, but the pedals hand no feel the weighting was all wrong the dash looked cheap and I couldn't wait to get back in the porker.

I love Astons they look beautiful and money no object I'd have one just to look at but I got in his car grinning like a giddy kipper but I got out trying to be polite when he asked what do you think?

It wasn't slow as we did a side by side run on a dual carriage way but it felt it.

Someone please make a car that looks like a Vantage but is engineered like a 911.

I ran a V8 roadster as a daily and probably wouldn't again to be honest. Great car but always a niggly problem with them which grates when you just want a car to go from a to b without any drama.

Also the V8V and Maserati are completely different, one is a sports car, one is a GT so a lot will depend on what you are looking for in a car.

Could you pick up a £3 k snotter as well so at least you have the option of taking a different car if required? It would make the proposition much more viable IMO.

to be honest we have an estate car for the dog and my work so thats fine its just for her daily hack which is about 20 miles a day and usual other bits and bobs, no children so 2 seats is fine but 4 would be handy at times i guess. she is not into porkers so thats out. drove an xkr and liked that but very keen to try these 2 out.compared to some of the dross ive driven down the years i would have thought these would have made for a great daily smile

Having driven a number of the Maseratis, I have to say I absolutely hate the gearbox. Even on the fastest setting after the upgrade, it's still a hateful thing.

Haven't driven a Vantage so can't comment but it can't be any worse, surely.

As said, for a daily drive at that money I'd be looking to The Fatherland for something.

My money would be going on a GranTurismo rather than a Gransport.
