Petrol for me, too.
I used to use the Range Rover as a daily driver. Short distances + diesel and associated crap + big fat turbo = massive turbo failure, catastrophic engine explosion, £11,000 bill.
I set myself a budget of £2000 (the price of just the turbo) to buy a snotter. I did, 2.5l NA petrol. Use it every day for the 8 mile return commute. Love it. Selling the Rangie.

k DIESEL.I had a Golf Bluemotion for a few days, and I enjoyed the torqueiness of it. My parents had a VW Sharan Diesel as well and while that was an absolute van, I never had a problem with the engine itself. I disliked my petrol Astra hire car more. I also liked the Juke Diesel I drove back from the Lake District.
Mind you maybe I just haven't driven any of the really awful ones. ~XD
