I bought my S Type back in September and all was good accept for the airbag warning light which was on.
At the time i had the faults read by a Jaguar fault code reader.
The code was B2293 - Drivers airbag front - stage 2 open circuit (code 19)
Googling showed that the issue was most likely with the clock spring.
My dad removed and cleaned the clock spring which cured the issue. Up until about a month ago, when the airbag light came back on.
I havnt had the code re read but i am fairly sure it is the same code.
Anyway, i bought a new (second hand) clock spring from ebay which my dad fitted this morning. The light hasnt gone out!
Odd, because cleaning in solved it for so long i was sure a new part would definately fix it!
Upon reading this morning, i have read a thread on another forum that mentioned the connections could become lose when the wheel is at full lock and need firmly pressing together.
Any other ideas?

The car has also recently thrown up a "cruise not avaliable" message on the dash. Upon reading up for that fault it was suggested that the battery may need replacing, my dad couldnt see how this could be considering the car starts fine.
Other than that, i love the car!
Thank you very much.

On the X-type cruise not available is linked to the clock spring fault.

I bought a used clock spring which only lasted a short while, I have a feeling it had been wound too hard. Most frustrating. Second one is fine after 18 months.

That is good news!
Do you recon it is worth me buying and trying a brand new clock spring?
I have no idea how much they are or where to buy them from other than direct from jaguar.
The "cruise not avaliable" message goes out occasionally and allows me to use the cruise. Would this mean its likely a lose connection?

A loose connection / on the way out would give an intermittent light.

This thread might help, bugger to have missed new ones for £23!!!!

I paid £70 for a second hand part!
The cruise control message is intermittent, the airbag warning is not.
Going to have the clock spring off again tomorrow to clean it up a little better.
Any other ideas/comments are most welcome!

Its fixed!
Was just giving up, driving off my dads drive and as i turned the steering wheel i tore the old cassette.
Put the new (second hand one) in and the light disappeared.
I have a sneaky suspicion its a dodgey connection as opposed to dodgey part.
Whether the light stays off, time will tell.
Its also letting me use the cruise control again! Yay!
Many more happy miles of motoring and v8 wafting/ supercharged storming cloud9
