SLK Mk1 roof issue

Hello All

I am doing some legwork for my mother in law who has an Mk1 SLK 200 Compressor.
It has a problem with the roof where it would take ages to open or closes (1 minute or more)

Not knowing much about that car, how is the roof works? Are they cables running inside the panels?
What are the common fault with those roofs
Is there diagram available?

Can someone recomend a specialist around Bournemouth?

Wheeler dealers had an SLK which had the same problem. It turned out to be the hydraulic pump which they swapped out for a second hand part. The pump is located behind the trim on the right hand side of the boot.

This is an eBay search for the part. You would want the part beginning A170.
