I am trying to cancel the renewal that Admiral have quoted but I am struggling to get a confirmation that the policy will not be renewed.

I have spoken to a couple of foreign sounding people so far but rather than confirm that I do not wish to remain a customer, I am getting sent documents with the renewal quote / details and a statement saying that money will be withdrawn shortly from my card details on system banghead

What is the best way to confirm that I want to leave them? So far, trying to chat to them has failed frown

Contact your bank, tell them to not allow payments to them. If Admiral then ring up moaning just tell them that you have already said you weren't going to renew with them.

Call before midday to get a UK based advisor, ask to not renew, confirm it won't renew, relax in the knowledge that it won't renew.

Have just cancelled renewal with Admiral last month and that's how it went.

They did then send me a letter to sign to confirm I had sent any renewal letter back to them, but its all online anyway so I just ignored it.

Had this with them last week, it's an automated process. Just speak to your bank instructing them to delete their details from your account.

someone beat me to it .. yes contact your bank and get them to block payments to admiral

only insurer I've had payment bother with is admiral ... allowed policy to continue with them once, all looked well until I received a letter saying I was no longer covered by them ... they'd managed to mess up taking the payment, didn't tell me for weeks & it took 2 goes with same details to renew over phone .... needless to say I'll avoid them forever more

Thanks, it is annoying because the staff are all polite enough and especially the Welsh sounding ones! I will try calling tomorrow morning and see if it is any better but will confirm with my bank to block any payments.

Same with Quote me happy, they make it difficult so most people leave it to renew.
They had the neck to quote £438 renewal. Ive just had an email from an Indian which never answered my question.
I asked to cancel the renewal and wanted to know what card was registered.
Eventually done it although no answer on my credit card, tried a comparison site and got like for like cover for £254.

They also don't stick to their internet prices - £599 went up to £860 when I wanted to go with their policy.

Took an hour or so of arguing the toss with them before they'd agree to stick to their quote and then oddly they dropped another £60 off that!

I had no problem cancelling with Elephant last year, aren't they all the same company?

Read the small print - I think you'll find that you originally agreed to a Continuous DD Authority for them to extract money, which the bank must honour. The only people that can cancel it is the insurance company. You must first instruct the insurance, not the bank.

All sorted!

Turns out that Josh from Bangladesh HAD put a note to cancel on my account, and the lovely lady I spoke to from the Valleys knocked £90 off, reduced the excess and included the legal cover for the same price as a competitor so no need to cancel now biggrin

Thanks for the advice, especially the advice to phone before 1200 as you get through to a good old British department rather than a chap mumbling a quasi-English.

Renewals staff are based in South Wales and Halifax (Canada)

If you're talking to someone from Bangalore you're in the customer service department.

There is a link on the Website to request a callback or email response (if you're insured with them again in the future)

Option on the right hand of the webpage "Send Us An Email"

HTH

P.S.
Also I'd refrain from asking to speak to a specific member (such as the above "Samantha"), the department is based over 3 cities with 500-600 staff it's unlikely they can be located especially if they've never dealt with the policy before.

Request an email while you are on the phone.

If they give you trouble, make a scene!

I found quote me happy simple to cancel the renewal, they quoted a 'clearly mental' price of £720. Found insurance for £275

If you're really bothered about getting nothing from them, make sure you send a good old-fashioned recorded deliver letter.

Keep a copy. Keep your receipt. And print off the "delivered" confirmation from Royal Mail website.

This is wrong. DD can be cancelled at any time by the payer, more importantly you could get every penny paid (ever) by DD back very easily if you so wished.

Yep, just cancel the direct debit.

Here's what I do though when my inflated Admiral renewal arrives.

1. Get quotes on Go Compare- Elephant always comes up as one of the cheapest and is always cheaper than the Admiral renewal quote.

2. Phone Admiral and ask to cancel. When asked why explain that you got a much better quote from Elephant.

3. They happily point out that Elephant is their sister company and match the quote.

Done this for the past few years.
