Knockhill: Trackday driving standards?
Discussion
Looking to venture out on a few trackdays this year, and knockhill is my nearest circuit.
I havent been down for at least 5 years (to a trackday)
Not including the hot hatch days, which I presume are still near carnage, what is the general level of driving (safety) standards for the more 'mature' driver?
Are the open sessions now the equivalent of the top marques style nights they used to have?
Are all the trackdays, such as sidc / other owners clubs events shown on knockhills own website?
Cheers

I been to 2 track days first one organised through monk lands sporting car club. All car lovers that drove and listen and was great day learning as been the first time out on track.
2nd time a managed 3 laps before my axle broke at chicane and rolled. I noticed hi tuned cars putting pressure on cars in front but not taking risks at braking points. They were patient to straights and seemed also good event. This one was through kh them self

Id also agree with the above. I started going to trackdays at Knockhill last year and managed about 5 or 6 of the KH organised hot hatch days. On the whole Id say the driving standards were good, the only problems tended to surround people trying to get past very slow cars on a busy session as a line of traffic would form. I noticed that if there was an idiot on track the marshals wouldnt suffer them for long!
Normally the cars are slip into 5 or 6 groups and if you really dont like the one you are put in first them you could probably change. I was comfortable taking my more expensive daily drive out on track a couple of times without fear that she'd get hit by someone else.

Just had a look at your profile. Is that Martins old car?
Must have met you before at one of the MSCC events or Knockhill, I'm Barry's cousin
It sure is martins old car. Never managed to race it done a track day and the 2nd track day before my first race the axle broke and it rolled, lost my confidence after that and through it in the corner, prob this year it may be put back together with the new roof finished and sold on, spent race budget on a nice f150 so the idea of starting racing is long gone.Must have met you before at one of the MSCC events or Knockhill, I'm Barry's cousin
I don't think we've met I used to marshal and just spectated booked though Barry for the first of my track days and that's the first time I met Barry
I though about doing sprints at forest burn only stay 5 min away from it

As above, the trackscotland and sidc days have very good driving standards. The marshals are stricter and won't tolerate idiots.
The sidc day in march is free to spectate so you can always pop up and see for yourself.

I've done 4/5 of the Track scotland days, and all ahve been great- the respect from drivers is good, and everyone follows te rules. I'm usually in something much slower than most, but just keep an eye out for faster cars, and let them past as soon as safe to do so.The sidc day in march is free to spectate so you can always pop up and see for yourself.

can't recommend it highly enough!
They have a 4hr session on 9th march.
