If the road you are driving on has something blocking the oncoming lane and a vehicle coming towards you stops, do you give them a wave of thanks or just carry on as you have priority?

There's so many ignorant people on the road that would just barge through, so I always thank those that wait.

Both.
I carry on because I have priority, but I give them a wave of 'thanks'.

Just a bit of manners.

If they stop in plenty of time on their side of the road I always thank, if they stop partly on my side of the road making it narrower because they weren't paying attention, I probably won't thank.

(My side, their side used to indicate car postion rather than ownership, before some twit with a goatee gets all upset)

Yep, it irks me when I dont get acknowledged, round here, ladies in premium SUV's expect you to defer and do not offer any acknowledgement, dont know why it rankles. Young girls in little cars like Minis dont seem very good at it either, but they are usually, to be fair fiddling with their phone.

I think it is important, especially when on the pushbike as people think you are a tt without even looking at you ! my favourite is turning right off the roundabout at work, as I indicate to come off with my left arm I put my hand up to thank the driver that has stopped whilst I navigate the usually wet and greasy roundabout, the only place I have fallen off so I like to show my appreciation of them waiting and not barging through.

I'm always curtious if another road user shows common sense, a little wave during daytime and a short flash of the lights at night.

Reason I ask is a van had to stop and reverse for me as his side was blocked, I didn't wave my thanks so he stuck his head out of his window and obviously was upset with me smile I didn't realise this but my daughter in the back asked what that man had said! biggrin
Maybe if he hadn't come round the corner straight onto my side I'd have been more likely to say thanks! wink

I even wave to idiots, as it costs me nothing and stops them getting angry.

They can't tell the difference between my waves for "thanks, nice driving", "thanks for doing what you were supposed to do" and "you people are scum, just die". Everyone is happy.

I always say thanks to people that have given way, irrespective of priority. I also give exaggerated thanks to the ignorant twunts (mostly women I have to say) that barge through without acknowledging after I have given way.

I agree with this sentiment... even though he was at fault he still rectified his mistake so it deserves a thanks.

And I always wave if someone waits regardless of right of way.

Personally I don't care whether people wave at me or not to say thanks when I do so (mostly in our village where its driving in the middle of parked cars, so neither has right of way). It sometimes winds my OH up chronic though!

Then again we all have our own bug bears - mine is if people don't say thanks if I hold the door open for them! And worse - if people don't hold the door for me!

Though holding doors open is generally a funny topic for me as to make it worse -> I also get wound up if people hold the door open for me and I am still miles away from the door...

Always give a wave of thanks and expect the same if I give way to others. Grips my st if not acknowledged by ignorant drivers. Common courtesy cost nothing.

Exactly this! Does not hurt or take much time to be curtious rather than just being ignorant and making the other driver have a bit of a tantrum/road rage.

I wish people wouldn't do that. What's wrong with flicking from headlights to sidelights? Then you don't 'thank' someone by blinding them...
