Patent advice needed.
Discussion
I have just started the process of applying for a Patent in Germany. I have no previous experience with this sort of thing but wondered if anyone who has been in my shoes could point out a few pertinent areas I should be thinking about (costs involved et cetera). I intend to apply for an international patent once this one has been approved so would appreciate any guidance on this aswell. The design is for aviation purposes (aircraft component) with a potential worth (in this case a projected annual saving to a passenger airline operator, of around £12,000,000 based on a 300 strong fleet doing 2000cycles per a/c). Obviously a Part 21 DO will have to be enrolled in the production and approval process.
I have confidence in my design but the Patent wording and how to make it effective in protecting my IP is my major concern.

Good question EDC; as this is a very innovative design with massive financial savings per year, minimal R&D and implementation costs, it should therefore not be difficult for me to convince a large Part 145 organisation/Operator with substantial Part 21 DO approval to take this idea on and help with the manufature. I will obviously have to relinquish part of the profit in the future sales for the product but I am hoping substantial upfront capital will be made from the concept alone. It could be fitted to any aircraft so the economic benefit from being involved in the design/manufacture would be of benefit to any of the major players in the aviation.
