Very nice. When you see pictures like that side by side you can really see the styling similarities.
Is it all in good fettle or needing much work?

At first sign, no work at all. The chassis is rust free (incredible for a Lotus, I know...), engine runs like a clock, very few defaults at the coachwork, interior very correct, ...
Just passed the belgian equivalent of MOT without remarks.
Lets cross fingers................

Absolutely !
Oliver Winterbottom did the general design, Giugaro did the interior.
(and the same winking headlights syndrom... but pneumatic weakness instead of electrical)

My silver one has evolved a hell of a lot since that picture was taken.

Original interior fitted, stage 3 engine and oz splits among a list of other stuff, now make it look a lot meaner

Stu

(and currently for sale in the classifieds if thats mot too cheeky!)

I've always fancied an Eclat (not an Excel though). A mate of mine has an early Elite: sadly its chassis is far from tidy frown

The Eclat is an Elite with a more conventional back.
Mine seems to have an very correct chassis.
The belgian MOT ("full control", not "oldtimer control"), gave a excellent record of the car.

I know wink
It's a much nicer shape than the Elite even if the rear seat head-room is not so good.
