what gets a better reaction than a Noble?
Discussion
Just over 2 years ago I traded my M12 GTO for a Porsche 996TT.
spent a few £000's upgrading it to 550bhp+ but soon got bored.....
too civilised
too common
too boring
Have just swapped for an Ariel Atom 3 300...OMG
what a machine:
MUCH faster than the Noble and Porker
Full on driving experience
LOVED by the public, gets a full on reaction everywhere!
believe me, if you are getting bored of your Noble, try one

It cant be that much faster, albeit with a few extra ponies (500) I spanked my mates Atom 3 on the 1/4 mile and round Knockhill several times, much to his dismay.
Still, its an amazing driving experience and scared the s
t out of me when I was in it, enjoy! Also get a good 1 piece waterproof suit!

I am a massive Atom fan. I have 4 of them and am considering a Cup car at the mo. But if you push them on a road, against a sorted Noble, Then the Noble will win. The atom is nimble and light, but when pushing on, very easy to lose all traction, front or rear. On a road trip in the sun, to Norfolk or somewhere, they are unbeatable! Unless going to Le Mans in it when Dad is in the 220 ;-)

Hardly the same type of car they are they ?
Imagine driving to spa doing 2 days on track then drive home ? Tell me then which one you would prefer to be in ?
True.....very different, but in reality both are toys!Imagine driving to spa doing 2 days on track then drive home ? Tell me then which one you would prefer to be in ?
When I bought the Pork I really missed the Noble, but I think the Atom is a real alternative......if all you want is a bit of very fast fun!
Reckon the Atom would have better odds on doing the trip without breakdown though!

Admittedly I am comparing it to a 2.5 GTO.........but I have seen a few 400s on the 1/4 and they rarely get sub 12s which the Atom easily manages!......on a dry warm day. However, the open experience makes the atom just feel so much faster....bit like driving a lowered bike powered mini.....maybe not that fast but OMG it feels it!........have bought a full set of thermal skiwear :-)Still, its an amazing driving experience and scared the s

I've had a succession of motorbikes, all faster and more fun than the noble on a hot sunny afternoon, but I still prefer the Noble, it's never boring.
I think my problem is I get bored after 2 years! Just love the buzz the Atom gives......so reminds me of the early days with the Noble!Congratulations Hamish they are cracking cars having driven one myself I can honestly say that the acceleration felt mind bending compared to my nob, although I'm only running the standard piffling bhp in mine unlike some of the 500+ bhp cars quite a few are running on here which no doubt also feel mind bogglingly quick.
Sounds like you're an attention seeker too Hamish!!
Ditto.
Have to disagree on the TT Porker. Just don't find them interesting. GT3 RS only for me.
But I love my Noble (when it works) so would not get rid of it.
BUT I really really want an atom as well. I'd keep it at my Dad's for sunny days only in the countryside!!
.....maybe it would be cheaper just to have a few go's in Matt's ones rather than owning my own.

The whole appeal of the Noble is it can give you 90% thrill of a Atom/Caterham and 90% of the useability of a 911.
Which is perfect for me.
An Atom 300 frustrated the hell out of me on the road, nigh impossible to get the power down ( and I much prefered the sound and power delivery of the 245),and anything over 30 mph you need a helmet/goggles.I doubt if I owned one I'd get to do more than 150 miles a year in it!

cant imagine using an atom as a company car... or taking my daughter on a 2 week road trip through Europe... or driving to lemans or taking my daughters to prom in it or.....
All things I have done in my noble and loved!... oh and until I started modding it heavily it had never once broken down in 30k miles I did while it was std lol
I would say the ariel is more an alternative to a Bike than a GT car!... or maybe a juno lmao!!!
