After 4 miserable visits to well known alignment company the car still wasn't driving right. Southways Automotive recommended me to the Wheel Alignment Centre in Southampton. It's run by Nick who put the problem down to wrong Toe In of the front wheels. They were set at +6.8 instead of the recommended +3 Nick suggested +2.4 for spirited driving and wouldn't take any money until I tried it out! Completely different car now and a much spirited drive home! How the others got it so wrong is beyond me.

Gotta say I was expecting it to be some discussion of the 'look' created by your nads settling either side of your jeans seam and going numb after a few hours driving...

Hi Tony,
Interesting thread. What were the handling characteristics that you were experiencing with excessive toe in ? That toe in would have worn the outsides of your tyres much quicker too, which could have been costly.

From Neil Anderson via Spend;

Front & rear camber 0.75 to 1.25deg negative, as equal as possible side to side

Front tracking (toe) 10 to 20 minutes TOTAL ACROSS AXLE (5 to 10 minutes each wheel)

Rear tracking (toe) 4 to 6 minutes EACH WHEEL (as equal as possible side to side)

Front castor 4.75 to 5.25deg Positive (more important that each side is within 0.5deg of the other)

I have these settings on my TVR & it goes where I point it & corners well.

Nah - had a dyno print in the folder of stuff that came with the car and since it seemed to be time to be waving willies I thought I'd just show how comfortable I was with my less than proud figure. biggrin

What cause the car to pull to the left once you take your hand off the steering wheel ?

What should cause that is the camber of the road but it cn also be caused by incorrect tracking, uneven tyre pressures, a binding brake calliper or such like...

Your passenger if you've been hooning it too much? drivingvomit

Do you find your handbrake also mysteriously comes on ? [Not that that would do anything of course!rolleyes]
