Institutions for Designers/engineers.
Discussion
Hello,
The company I work for offer to pay your institute fees. I'm not in one, and haven't considered it, but obviously now am!
The question is this - is being in an institute a good thing, and if so why?!
I'm looking at the Institute of Engineering Designers or the Chartered Society of Designers.
I've got a Design degree and experience, but am now working in Engineering!

What exactly is your degree, and what exactly do you do?
I'm in the IMechE, and I'm thinking about applying for chartership, about time I did it.
But other than that, I get very little out of it, for the £139 it currently costs me every year.
ImechE isn't an option, I did a BSc in Product Design,an important now a development Engineer (aerospace). I'm in the IMechE, and I'm thinking about applying for chartership, about time I did it.

My thoughts are I've not done it yet when it's out of my own pocket, I've not even looked into it, so if it's worth it in will, otherwise I won't!
