Got an EFI Fault warning on the pod along with an annoying tone (which I know I can turn off). It's still there today so I probably need to do something about it although the car is driving perfectly well. Every now and again it flicks back to the normal display for a second or two, but the returns to the warning.
Two questions if I may:
- Is there something that usually causes this e.g. Lambda sensors, I can check - the fact it flickers makes me think it may be a connection problem.
- Can I remove the message in any way at least to see key pod information such as temperatures?
Thanks
J

I don't think you can get rid of the message, although the tone can be made silent in the options menu.
I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a loose connection with the air temp sensor (I think! - it was the one which is on top of the air box). Only way to find out for sure is to plug it into a computer. Wish I had the diagnostics software at the time because it cost me £80 for a garage to diagnose and repair the wire!

Been a number of years since I owned a mk1 (5+) but I used to have issues with EFI messages and I seem to remember there was a trick Joe showed me to cancel the message for until the engine was restarted.
I _think_ it was something to do with a combination of pushing the brass dials down, but don't quote me on that - it was quite a while back, so I might be wrong and the previous owner had done a few "tweaks".

I had an EFI warning that turned out to be a Lambda sensor switching too slowly so not on all the time usually just after acceleration and coming off the gas. I pretty much diagnosed it myself with a laptop connected as the Lambda values were out of spec.
I asked advice and was told not to drive it.

Just had my post-rebuild 1000M service at STR8Six.
Mentioned that the EFI fault warning was coming up. The upshot was that there was nothing logged on the ECU memory - lambdas ckecked OK, no sensor issues either. Apparently, they have had this warning message after the fitting of the green top injectors with some cars/ecu's
I was told not to worry!

I took the bonnet off tonight with Konrod junior's help. Waggled wires etc whilst he watched the screen, but nothing changed (except my heart rate when he revved it - don't blame him...). Re-seated the Lambda connectors but no joy. Fixed the windscreen washers whilst in there
Looks like it'll need to go into someone with the diagnostics when I get back from skiing.
B****y annoying as it had a 12k service in January and has been running like a dream............
Thanks for all of your suggestions.
