How well does your cowling fit behind your clocks
Discussion
I took apart my cowling the other day to fit a new switch for the wipers, before i took it apart it fitted perfectly, now i have put it back together it seems to keep coming away from the brass coloured speedo surround. Is this a case of they all do that sir or can it be sorted. Its annoying me some what.
I had the same problem.
Considered small stainless self tapper through the metal surround...and other 'fixes'.
I reckon that in dislodging the cowl, I probably broke a small piece of the (moulded)'lip' that locates on the underside of the metal surround?
Eventually, I tried some 19mm wide sticky-backed velcro tape, bought in any hardware shop. Put the 'hook' side on the plastic cowl and the 'eye' side on the metal surround and it's been absolutely fine for about a year now. Just be careful on how you place the velcro on each part and you'll get an invisible fix.

I think most of us have/had the same problem, over the years I've seen different solutions. If you're going to glue try to do it sparingly as you may need to remove the cowling at a later date (my one was definitely not glued at the factory).
Personally I also think the velcro option is a good one, I have seen one tuscan where they added two new mountings internally and just used screws with caps, looked good and was still serviceable.
I still haven't done anything with mine other than I have the steering wheel tilted back and the cowling has no where to go.

I succumbed to the full tilt back option too. Also considered glueing - but then thought about any subsequent 'service' issues.Personally I also think the velcro option is a good one, I have seen one tuscan where they added two new mountings internally and just used screws with caps, looked good and was still serviceable.

The velcro solution is still rock solid...and with a bit of care, it is invisible. I applied 2 off strips at the corners of the pod ensuring the bit on the plastic cowl was 'just' on to the 'lip' that tucks under the metal part of the display (the surplus width was just rolled over onto the underside of the cowl). The other part just sticks on the underside of the metal surround. Have to say, I'm well pleased with the fix.
