I did a track day a Brands last year and there was a chap in a sagaris with these which was going round really well in the dry and damp. Up close they seemed to have that semi slick tread pattern and had a good sticky feel. http://www.camskill.co.uk/m118b0s1147p64173/Federa...
Best of all there not mega bucks. I'm probably going to go for a set but it looks like there not in 40 profile in the right width. The sagaris I saw them on was running after market wheels.

I have a pair of rears sat in the garage waiting to be fitted. I've heard good reports. I read another PH post which directed me to a cheaper tyre firm than Camskill. 235 40 18 RSR's for £102.32, 255 35 18 RSR's for £113.95 both with free delivery.http://www.camskill.co.uk/m118b0s1147p64173/Federa...

I can vouch for R888, both pre- and post LS conversion.
Absolute grip in the dry is fantastic, they warm quickly, and they remain predictable in less than ideal conditions although of course performance is compromised. However, I don't usually go out of my way to drive in pouring rain or freezing temperatures so no big deal. Basically, I know where I stand with them.
Can't comment on federal or R1R but I can compare against Goodyear Eagle (which of course are a different type of tyre) and Yokahama AD08. With the latter, I changed to these on recommendation but immediately changed back to R888. Didn't get on with them but another Pher does so a good deal for him! This does suggest that a lot of it comes down to personal choice also though so a bit of trial and error I'm afraid!
