Please help settle a pub debate between me and a mate.....

I know which camp I'm in, but we couldn't agree no matter how long we discussed it......

we've agreed that whatever this poll decides is the answer - end of story.

cheersbiggrin

Not a chance, anything struggles to get away from a hot hatch can't be called a supercar.

Nope, a mere 320bhp is chicken feed In a fairly heavy 4wd car.

I guess these things are relative. If you're in a Ford Ka or some other little hatchback then I would think it does look like a supercar. And lets face it, even a Lotus Elise will look like a supercar compared with some dreary hatchback, however big its engine.

Although from where I'm sitting the 911 looks like a pretty serious car, I wouldn't call it a supercar.

Being as I own one I will admit that it is like getting into any normal car. They're so easy to live with day to day and well made that if anything they're a bit to normal and boring. Compared to some of the TVR's I've had it's a fairly pedestrian like car.
Can't remember what their 0-60 is, maybe low 5's but that's similar to an Escort Cosworth.......and that aint a supercar!

While I think my C4 is a super car, I don't believe it can be classed as a supercar, same as a turbo isn't a hypercar (but IS a supercar.)

It's a shopping trolley. I used to have a few, but they didn't have enough torque to move when filled with my numerous directorship deeds, along with my own considerable bulk (as I am particularly well built, my goatee alone can bench 400lbs).

keep em coming! this is music to my ears!!!! biggrin

what about "Its a Porsche - and its really fast so its a supercar"

or "Any car who's brakes cost £1000 to renew and its tyres cost £300 a corner is a supercar"

or "its relatively light, it handles on rails, and has always been designed to be fast, not like another car that has low end low performance variants like an Escort Cosworth or a BMW M3 or a Mercedes AMG"

I know it's more than super enough for any remotely legal road use. Supercars (Enzo, Veyron, Zonda etc) are largely irrelevant, in terms of performance, away from the track..for me a Porker 993 is as useably super as I would want to drive on the road, the latest 911 incarnations, particularly the Turbo blur the lines between supercar and Sportscar. The main drawback being the ubiquity of them on every well heeled high street

I dont disagree with that either - if real world usage is required on our crappy british roads, a 911 is a great option, as is an M car or an AMG or many other 'real world' fast cars -

the other thing is that in order to REALLY drive a supercar you need to be a super driver which 99% of us are not.

Thats all a bit off subject - basically I think my work is done here, the poll is already clearly only going one way, theres nothing more to say here - I have witnesses (you lot) I asked the question in a fair and straight forward way - is the 911 Carrera 4 a supercar? the answer is, my friend,..........no smokin
