I'm thinking of buying......

Full BMW service history.

Would anyone be worried about the engine.

It's a 59 plate and everything is immaculate.

Thanks

I would say don't worry for another 70,000 miles - Boss runs a 58 plate one with getting close to 200,000 miles from memory and I don't think it's missed a beat

just bought a 2.2 dtec accord for the missus with 126000! Its also a 59 plate with FHSH so no concerns on engine, it feels a fair bit tighter to drive compared to her old 03 accord with 105000. Things like turbo, clutch are a worry but we've saved over £4k on a similar car with 60k so a fair old fund for breakages is mentally accounted for...

Judging by the age and mileage, sounds like ex-fleet/rep. Probably spent the majority of those miles on the motorway.

Just be aware that engine has issues with timing chains snapping.

I have a 57 plate 318d which has just clocked 105000 miles of which I have done 55000 in 18 months and its great *touch wood* hasn't missed a beat apart from having to replace a wheel bearing and other such consumables.

I would be more wary of if it needs consumables replaced such as discs, pad, bearings or tyres as they can soon add up especially on an M-Sport.

its an english thing worrying about mileage , my mate in france has an ex cop clio with 345000 kms on and she doesnt even give it a second thought , theres plenty of commercial vehicles riding around with in excess of 250000 miles on and they get a harder life than any car

Tyres check yourself. The rest (excl bearings) are all on the idrive to give you a milage or age life to go - of course with discs and pads you can quickly look at them from the outside of the car ie not the inside disc and pad but it shouldn't be too different.

Worth noting that the E90 with OEM pads and discs last ages 65k for discs and pads unless your a hooner

I was quite keen but a two people today have said not to touch the 4v with high mileage. They didn't say why.

Tell you what I'm going to tell you not to vote Green Party - will not tell you why but don't worry from what you say its good enough to put you off!!!!

FFS get real. Did they tell you but the higher price one with less miles? Do they think cars with 100k miles fall to bits at that milage? Did you ask them to suggest other cars with 110k miles they would suggest you to look at instead

We have two 58 plates in the office each approaching 180k miles and never missed a beat. Even the interiors are like new. I've never paid out for anything apart from tyres, brakes, MOTs and routine services - not even a clutch.

E46 318d with 240,000Km on it here.

Handbrake shoes went
Rear springs went
Small Downpipe section needed replacing
Temp sensor replaced
One rearlight and front light corroded and need to be replaced

I have replaced the fuel pump and filter, the oil breather system and the gearbox oil as precautions.
I change the oil more frequently than advised to.
I have a feeling the glow plugs have packed up or the controll unit has.
Very minor exhaust blow when stone cold at the mo.

Very happy. Big big miles and just the above bits and pieces sorted every now and then. Car is tight and still driving well and starting first time.

Main concerns in the back of my head are clutch, turbo or DPF as they are still all origonal.
This car has done alot of Autobahn miles. It gets a good work out.

With these diesel workhorses a higher mile car that has been driven on the motorway and serviced properly is a better bet than a lower mile one that has done local trips and has had minimal servicing.

That was fixed in March 2011, so you'd need to be in an 11 plate to be safe from it.

I'm sure someone will say something about swirl flaps in a minute.
