I see that the headlight units on the 996 are expensive to replace and i would like to buy a set of clear protectors for them but my search only brings up some round 997 lookalikes which i don't like.

Can anyone recommend any???

Are they? I thought mine were glass, but maybe not.

Having said that, even if they were glass - in 20 odd years I've never had to replace a headlight due to damage or known anybody who did either.

If litronic they are closer to a grand each. Due to the angle of the headlight and the fact they are plastic very unlikely to have any problems which is probably why there are few or even zero protectors on the market for 996.
