Modern Classic Insurance

Hi,

I’ve bought myself a Smart Crossblade which I thought (being nearly but not quite 10 years old) could attach to my current Classic policy. But they said wait another year. Oops.

I got in touch with my daily driver insurer’s but they don’t do a multi car policy.

I’ll do no more than 1500 miles in it but don’t have any no-claims spare. On that basis does anyone have the info for a classic car brokers or company that will insure the Crossblade?

I have no desire to shell out bundles for what is in effect a classic toy a la most cherished machines stored in the garage and used in the summer now and then..

But it's not a classic.

There are plenty of companies offering multicar insurance and it can be very good value. They will quote you with your other car staying with the current insurer until that policy expires and then their policy kicks in.

to get the best value (never a good idea to go for cheap with insurance) for a specialist vehicle it's best to go to a specialist insurer or broker - who that is for a smart crossblade I don't know, who did the previous owner use? what about other crossblade owners? asked at the smart owners club(s)?

a bit more effort put into this and you could be rewarded with a good premium and cover

you should of course have checked this before you bought the crossblade but I can't talk as I've made similar mistakes

that could be a good vehicle to offer charity rides in

I fancied one, sitting high up so you can see the countryside, wind in your face and body so 50mph feels like 100mph

insure for 3,000+ miles and enjoy it more, my wife had a LHD, 600cc, smart city coupe as an everyday car and we toured North Yorkshire in it easily

just service it by time rather than mileage and use synthetic oil and the engine will probably outlast you
