Jaguar C Type Cylinder Head for XK120 - Value ?
Discussion
Posting the number from the head and the casting numbers would be useful in working out its worth.
Also is it complete?
Does it have the cams?
Most importantly does it have the top shells for the cam bearings.
The most important numbers the main engine number. For an XK head its stamped on the upright section at the front of the valley between the two cam, the bit that sticks up to cover the cam drive sprockets. Sorry my website is down at the moment so I can't so easily post a picture.
Its quite possible that a buyer these days might also want to check the casting numbers. The XK community has been doing a lot of work recently on correlating these with the different variants of the head and the ranges of engine numbers to help detect cases of more valuable heads, such as this, that started life as more easily available ones.
